June Kirkwold was born on June 3, 1933 in Minnewaska Township, Pope County, MN to Alma (Roel) Kirkwold and Clayton Kirkwold. She was born at home in a stucco house, built by her parents, on the west side of Lake Pelican where she spent her childhood years. She attended school in Glenwood. During her earl y years she attended church at Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck, where she was also confirmed.  Later, she became a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.

On June 29, 1948, June was united in marriage to Harlan Iverson. They made their home in Glenwood and were blessed with two children, Bruce and Susan.

In June's early years she worked as a clerk at Potter's Ben Franklin in downtown Glenwood.  In her later years, she drove school bus before accepting a position at the Glenwood Retirement Village where she worked as the Activities Director.

June was active in the design and construction of many pontoon floats for Waterama.  She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, music, writing stories and poetry, bowling, drawing and painting, sewing, embroidery and crafts and making quilts. She loved making beautiful birthday cakes for family and friends. She was a member of the local Art Club, Birthday Club and was instrumental in organizing and working with the Humane Society in Glenwood. She gave much of her life in looking after the welfare of her furry friends. In later years, when she lived at Glen Haven Manor , she enjoyed the friendships she made there and especially treasured time spent with her friend and neighbor, Howard Hegland.

June will be remembered for her quick wit. Her grandchildren will never forget her delicious and elaborately decorated birthday cakes. They looked forward to receiving their slipper socks she gave every Christmas and other unusual, yet practical gifts. She made it a daily habit to pray for each of her children and their families. She was always looking forward to doing something new and never gave up on living life to the fullest, even when her health had declined.

June is survived by her children, Bruce (Barb) Iverson of Glenwood and Susan (Steve) Cihlar of Glenwood; grandchildren, Holly (Steven) Iverson Hayden of Burnsville, MN, Amy (Mike) Horn of Remer, MN, Jeff Iverson of Granite Falls, MN, Beth (Luke) Rosten of Cologne, MN, Brad (Adrienne) Cihlar of Glenwood, and Laura Cihlar of Glenwood; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Hayden, Kayleigh, Megan and Carrie Horn and Maria and Marcus Rosten; sister, Gloria Schroeder of Glenwood; brother-in-law Marvin (Darlene) Iverson of Benson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
