Obituary

June Carsten, age 78 of Glenwood, died Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 23rd at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home.

LaJune "June" Ione Carsten, the daughter of Fred and Lora (Katzung) Schubert was born September 14, 1939 in Little Falls, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm by Royalton and was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran in Royalton and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She attended country school and Little Falls High School. June worked at several restaurants while living in Little Falls.

On December 29, 1959, June was united in marriage to Ronald "Jack" Carsten at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake. The couple made their home in Minneapolis for a few years before moving to Grove Lake to farm. This marriage was blessed with four children. Along with being a farm wife, June worked cleaning cabins at the Walleye in Osakis, and in housekeeping at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood for 18 years. June and Ron shared 48 years of marriage before Ron passed away in 2008.

June enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, flowers, baking, watching the Minnesota Twins and Nascar. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, ice fishing, playing games, cards and doing puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

June is survived by her children: Cheryl (Paul) Danielson of Starbuck, Theodore Carsten of Grove Lake, Scott (Sharon) Carsten of Grove Lake, and Jaci (Paul) Byre of Sidney, Montana; grandchildren: Nick (Stacy) Danielson, LeAnn (Matt) Simonson, Shelby (Eric) Thesing, Shawn Carsten, Vance Carsten and Taimea Byre; 8 great-grandchildren: Rita, Coy, Kasie, Hazel, Sadie, Sierra, Gavin and Loretta; a sister, Carol Spencer of Elkins, WV; sister-in-law, Marion Carsten; brother-in-law; Tom (Marcy) Carsten, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ron in 2008.
