Kenneth A.
Huerkamp
Jul 22, 1954 — Jun 7, 2026
Kenny Huerkamp, 71, passed away at the family farm on June 7, 2026, a place he loved and called home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19th at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sedan, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Heidi's Bar in Sedan to celebrate his life. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Kenneth Alvin Huerkamp, was born July 22, 1954 in Sauk Center, Minnesota to Alvin George and Patricia (Blaskowski) Huerkamp. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back and always made time for others.
After high school, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving his country with pride. As a young man, he moved to South Dakota, where he worked as a mechanic for a few years before returning to Minnesota. He loved working with his hands, spending time outdoors, and sharing stories. A true motorhead, he could talk for hours about cars, tractors, and all things mechanical.
He especially enjoyed driving back roads, creating memories filled with music, laughter, and conversation. He cherished his daughter deeply, and anyone who knew him understood how much she meant to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Candis Huerkamp; his best friend, Tammy Stradtman; his sisters, Rose (Gene) Martin of New York, Max (Gary) Jacobson of Wyoming, Diane (Andy) Hite of Texas, and Carol (Mike) Kohlman; his brothers, Gerald (Margie) Huerkamp and William Huerkamp; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Patricia Huerkamp; his brothers, Robert and John Huerkamp; a nephew; and a great-niece.
He will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
