Obituary

Larry M. Pederson, age 81 of Glenwood died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Shalom Community Lutheran Church in Starbuck with Pastor Becky Worner officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.  Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Interment will be in the East Zion Cemetery in rural Starbuck.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Larry Mearine Pederson the son of Mearine and Nora (Nelson) Pederson was born at home in Langhei Township, Pope County on September 10, 1933.  He grew up around the Starbuck/Glenwood area where he attended country school.

Larry entered the United States Army on October 19, 1953.  He served his country during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal along with the Good Conduct Medal and was top expert rifleman.  He was honorably discharged on October 6, 1955.  On June 23, 1956, Larry was united in marriage to Janice Meyer in Webster, Minnesota.   Larry was employed as a contractor/carpenter.

On September 12, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Joyce Trousil in Glenwood.  They made their home in Glenwood.    Larry was a member of Shalom Community Lutheran Church in Starbuck along with the Starbuck VFW Post 4582.  He was a past member of the East Zion Lutheran and Glenwood Lutheran church councils.  In Larry's younger years, he was past president of the Glenwood Rotary and past president of the Richfield church school PTA.  He also was active in Waterama in Glenwood.  Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce Pederson of Glenwood; children: Randal Pederson of Merrifield, MN, Lori (Terry) Manders of Prior Lake, MN, Teri Melichar (Judd Quintal) of Savage, MN, Cory (Kristen) Mikkelson of Alexandria, Jackie (Andy) DenBleyker of Cottage Grove, MN, and Jeannie Pederson (Jarrod Sargent) of Big Lake, MN; grandchildren: Travis & Tanner Pederson, Christina (Scott) Sevcik, Joseph (Meghann) Manders, Katie (Jake) Hentges, Callie Manders, Ryan Melichar, Sara (Kevin) Whitis, Enna (Garren) Magnuson and Megan Mikkelson; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Sophie, Summer, Scarlett, Ayden, Savannah, Spencer, Austin Joy, Hayden, Gemma, and two more on the way; step-great grandchildren, Jose and Ana; sister, Marvel Dahlseng of Starbuck; brothers, Dale (Judy) Pederson of Lowry and Arlen Pederson of Benson; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mearine and Nora Pederson; brother, Glen Pederson; Step father Art Paulson; brothers-in-law, Franklin Braaten and Maynard Dahlseng; and sister-in-law, Judith R. Pederson.
