Lily Mae Cayo, age 13 of Starbuck died Wednesday, August 17, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Lily Mae Cayo, daughter of Alfredo Cayo and Christine (Trousil) Nicolay, was born on March 19, 2003, in Alexandria, MN. She grew up in Starbuck and attended Sacred Heart Church and Minnewaska Area schools, where she would have been an 8 ^th grader this fall. Lily had amazing artistic talent. She also loved music and had a passion for animals, especially birds.

Lily will be remembered for her artistic talents and wonderful sense of humor. She died on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at her home. She will be greatly missed.

Lily is survived by her mother and step-father, Christine (Trousil) and Griffin Nicolay, of Starbuck; her father, Alfredo Cayo of Commerce, CA; two sisters, Tatianna and Nia Cayo of Commerce, CA; grandparents, Donald and Ramona Trousil of Starbuck, MN, Dale and Virginia Nicolay of Rosemount, MN, and Olivia Cayo of Commerce, CA; great-grandmother, Donna Nicolay of Eagan, MN; aunts and uncles, Rose Ellendson, David (Laura) Trousil, James (Kodianna) Trousil, Paul (Trisha) Trousil, Blake (Shelly) Nicolay, Luke (Jacqueline) Nicolay, Quintin Nicolay, Kaycie Nicolay, Spencer Nicolay, and Grayson Nicolay; along with many great-aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Felix Cayo; great-grandparents, Richard and Clarice Aasgaard, Henry and Helen Trousil, Richard Nicolay; and a great-aunt, Evelyn Aasgaard.
