Lola M. Olson, age 83, of Farwell,, MN, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 23 ^rd , at First Lutheran Church in Kensington with Lay Pastor Dorothy Hedlin officiating. Visitation will be at the church in Kensington from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday and will resume on Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Norunga Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Lola Marie Swenson, daughter of Arnold R. and Viola C. (Bjorklund) Swenson, was born on April 4, 1934, in Lowry, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Norunga Lutheran Church, where she and her family were members. She grew up in Lowry where she attended elementary school before graduating from Glenwood High School in 1951.

Lola was united in marriage to Robert L. Olson on January 14, 1954 in Kensington, MN. The two made their home in Farwell for the entire 63 years of their marriage and they were blessed with three daughters, Darby, Brenda, and Tammie.

Lola worked at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood and at Quinco Press in Lowry. She was active in Ladies Aid at Norunga Lutheran Church, Farwell Senior Citizens, and the Council on Aging. Lola enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren.

Lola passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Douglas County Hospital, having lived to the age of 83 years. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include Lola's husband, Robert L. Olson; daughters, Darby (Harlan) Folkens of Alexandria, MN, Brenda (Tim) Bennett of Kensington, MN, Tammie (Bruce) Leverson of Alexandria, MN; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Paffel, Aaron Folkens, Erika (Ryan) Forga, Tyler (Robyn) Bennett, Kelsey (Andrew) Giese, and Brandon Leverson; 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor Forga and Willa Giese; a sister, Karen (Harlan) Nelson of Ashby, MN; sister-in-law, Joan Swenson; brother-in-law, Tony (Diane) Olson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Viola Swenson; two brothers, A. Rodney Swenson and Laurel D. Swenson; father and mother-in-law, Olaf B. and Elizabeth A. Olson.
