Lorraine K. Chan, age 79 of Lowry, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 12 th , at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry, with Pastor Joe Skogmo officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the church in Lowry and will continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Lorraine K. Chan the daughter of Fred and Elna (Hansen) Hansen was born August 13, 1936 in Hunter, North Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Hunter where she attended the Presbyterian Church and went to school. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Johnson Farms.
On August 23, 1955, Lorraine was united in marriage to Robert H. Chan at the Presbyterian Church in Hunter, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Lowry, Minnesota before moving to Alexandria, Minnesota, for a few years and then back to Lowry. This marriage was blessed with three children, Debbie, Ken and Donald. Lorraine and Bob shared 55 years of marriage before Bob passed away September 15, 2010.
Lorraine was employed at the Lowry Hatchery for several years. She was a member of the Lowry American Legion Auxiliary and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, sewing, canning and flower gardening. Lorraine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and for dedicating her life to caring for her daughter, Debbie.
She is survived by her daughter, Debora "Debbie" Chan of Starbuck; sons, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Chan of Glenwood and Donald Chan of Alexandria; grandchildren: Joshua (Jennifer) Chan, Nathan Chan, Jacob (Mallory) Chan and Laura (Dan) Wacker; great-grandchildren: Kolton, Owen and Preston Chan, and Ethan and Aaron Chan; twin-sister, Lucille Fenske of Arthur, ND; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert H. Chan; brothers, Frederick Hansen and Dean "Ike" Hansen and grandson, Matthew C. Chan.
