Obituary

Lyle R. Just, age 81 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 22nd at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with Rev. Ginger Beck officiating.  Visitation will be one our prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Ft. Ripley State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Lyle Raymond Just, the son of Albert and Helena (Neumann) Just was born on September 19, 1932 in Wood Lake, MN.  He grew up on a farm near Wood Lake.  He attended and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church.  He graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1950. He was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Hegdal on May 1, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, MN.  Lyle entered the US Army in June, 1954 and served overseas until he was honorably discharged in June of 1956. Lyle was employed as a journeyman lineman for the Soo Line Railroad for many years and also worked in the construction/cabinet making business for quite some time.  Later in life he and Margaret owned a horse farm and raised Quarter horses.  Lyle enjoyed raising/showing horses, hunting and woodworking.  He recently returned to Glenwood, MN. He was a lifetime member and very active in the VFW and served as Commander of a post in northern Minnesota for a number of years.  He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).  He and Margaret helped start up the Waska Riders Saddle Club in Glenwood. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Just of Glenwood, MN; daughters Dawn (Brad) Danielson of Rockford, MN and Linda (Randy) Hardy of Eden Prairie, MN; son Lyle (Gayla) Just Jr. of Wayne, OK; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helena Just; son Scott Just; sisters: Arleen Swanson, Vivian Johnson, Genevie Wood and Janice Grafenstein; and brother, Dallas Just.
