Obituary

Lyman V. Melde, age 76, of Alexandria, MN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Alomere Health in Alexandria. A visitation celebrating Lyman's life will be from 1:00-3:00 pm. on Thursday, July 6th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood followed by inurnment in Fron Lutheran Cemetery in rural Starbuck. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Lyman Vergine was born on April 23, 1947, to Durol & Leatrice (Joyce) Melde in Madison, MN. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Dec 1968 and was honorably discharged in September 1971 due to injuries sustained during his time of service. He married Paula Hollenbeck in July 1970 and they had 2 sons, Dustin in 1973 and Blake in 1974.

He liked to travel and lived in a handful of different states. Once he was released from living on base in Colorado, he briefly moved back to Minnesota before moving to Arizona, then eventually settled in Loveland, Colorado where he enjoyed 4-wheeling and went hiking in the Colorado mountains with the boys during their formative years. Lyman married Beverly (Norby) in January of 1998 in Oregon where they resided. Lyman and Beverly had fond memories and many adventures walking on beaches and going for drives along the coastline. The couple eventually moved back home to Minnesota where they lived together until Beverly passed away in April of this year. Lyman always had a love of cars and you could count on his vehicle being spotless and could expect to run into him at local auto shows.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his brother, Dennis.

Lyman is survived by his two sons Dustin (Heather) Marshall and Blake (Sheree) Marshall; ten grandchildren; his sister, Judy Rising; step-son, Brian (Lisa) Austinson; three nephews, a niece, the mother of his children, Paula Marshall; other relatives and friends.
