Mae L. Dahl, age 89, of Glenwood, MN, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Glenwood Retirement Village. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 30th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake, with Rev. Philip Beyersdorf officiating.  Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grove Lake Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Mae "Babe" Louise Dahl was born at home, May 8, 1927 in Gary, South Dakota.  Babe was the youngest of nine children born to William and Margarete (Zimmerman) Switzenberg.   She grew up on a farm near Gary where she attended country school.  When Babe was 16, her family moved to Terrace, MN.

On December 6, 1952, Mae was united in marriage to John Dahl in Glenwood, Minnesota.  Babe and John lived in various towns while John worked construction until 1967, when they settled on a farm in Grove Lake, Minnesota.  This marriage was blessed with five children. The couple shared 38 years of marriage before John passed away on November 8, 1991.  A few years after John passed away; Babe sold the home place to her daughter, Lori and her husband Donald, and moved into Brooten.  She continued to live in Brooten until she needed help with her daily care and moved into the Belgrade Nursing Home and later the Glenwood Retirement Village.  She passed away there on July 26, 2016.

Babe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake.  She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, flowers, reading and word puzzles.  Babe will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, especially flowers and birds and her great sense of humor and wit.

She is survived by her sons: Jeff (Carissa Gilson) Dahl of Durango, CO, Keith (Lynne) Dahl of Durango, CO and Randy Dahl of Swift Falls, MN; daughters, Pam Baldwin of Swift Falls and Lori (Donald) Hofmann of Grove Lake, MN; grandchildren: Holly, Jason, Greg, Christa, Ryan, Brandi, Shawn, Katie, and John; 13 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; sister, Pearl McPhail of Willmar, MN; sister-in-law, Shirley Switzenberg of Mellette, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Dahl; four brothers and three sisters.
