Magdalene "Maggie" Mary Schroedl was born on May 3, 1932, in Morgan, Minnesota, to John and Mary (Plotz) Hofmann. Maggie was a cherished twin and one of eight children. She grew up in Wanda, Minnesota where she attended Wanda Elementary and later Lamberton High School.

On July 3, 1951, Maggie was united in marriage to Robert Schroedl in New Ulm, Minnesota. They made their home in New Ulm where Maggie worked as a nurse's aide at the Loretto Hospital before becoming a full-time homemaker. In 1955, they moved to St. Paul and later to Mendota Heights, where they raised their son and three daughters. After Bob retired, they moved to Glenwood in the Baycrest community on Lake Minnewaska. They continued to enjoy their years together and embraced their new home.

Maggie lived a life filled with simple joys and meaningful service. She enjoyed bird watching and was particularly fond of cardinals. She loved growing beautiful potted flowers, playing golf and a friendly game of gin rummy. She belonged to the Glacial Ridge Hospital Auxiliary and served as a hospice volunteer, offering comfort and care to others in their time of need. When Maggie and Bob lived in Mendota Heights, they were members of St. Peter's Catholic Church and later when they moved to Glenwood they joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Maggie was also a talented China painter, especially known for painting bells, and she also took great pleasure in making bread and rolls for those she loved. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe to visit relatives, and she especially loved spending winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Gophers, Twins, and Vikings, and she enjoyed many friendly games of dominoes. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family, and her home was always a place of warmth, welcome, and love.

In 2020, Maggie and Bob moved into Glenwood Ridgewood Villa. After 70 years of marriage, Bob died on August 12, 2021, Maggie continued to live at the Villa until she needed more help with her daily care, she then moved into the Glenwood Retirement Village. She died there on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the age of 93 years.
