Mark, the son of Odell and Arlene Johnson, was born on October 1, l958 in Moorhead. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in l977 and from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1981. Mark and Mary (Lysne) were married in October of 1981 and lived in Preston, MN when he worked as a laboratory technician at the Mayo Clinic for 2 years. He attended UMD Medical School and the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating in 1987. Mark did his residency at Bethesda and St. Joseph's Hospitals in St. Paul.  After looking into practice opportunities around the state, Mark and Mary chose to settle and raise their girls in Glenwood, and have thoroughly enjoyed their life there for the past 24 years. Mark took great satisfaction in his family medicine practice at Glacial Ridge Health System, where he had been a physician since 1990.  He served as the Ambulance Medical Director and Emergency Room Director from 1990-2012.  He loved working with the Clinic and Hospital Staff and all his wonderful patients. Mark loved the mountains and looked forward to his annual hiking and fishing trips with college friends. He enjoyed camping and fishing-- especially when his girls were younger. Mark loved golfing, building and carving in his shop, brewing beer, working in the yard and reading. Mark and Mary were so happy when they were able to travel anywhere together. They also went on many wonderful travel adventures as a family. He always enjoyed the simple pleasure of taking his beloved white dog on his daily walk to work. Mark leaves behind many people who loved him: Mary, his wife of 33 years, and daughters Kjersti of Minnetonka and Britta of Glenwood. His parents, Odell and Arlene of Fargo;  sisters Marge (Robert) Dregseth of Fargo; Sylvia (Kory) Schindler of Champlin; Nancy (Todd) Quatier of Rosholt SD; Jennifer Hyden of Fargo.
