Mary Edinger, age 87 of Glenwood, died Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Glenwood Retirement Village.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12th at the Glenwood United Parish.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Mary Kathryn Edinger, the daughter of Ervin "Butch" and Elva (Hinman) Johnson, was born July 28, 1927, in Montevideo, Minnesota.  She grew up in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School.  She went on to further her education and graduated from the Minneapolis Business College.  After graduating, Mary moved back to Glenwood and worked as a legal secretary for 20 years for Attorney Walter A. Winter.  She then worked part time preparing income taxes for Arleigh Lund and Jerry Wangsness. On July 30, 1950, Mary was united in marriage to Howard E. Edinger.  They made their home in Glenwood.  This marriage was blessed with two children, Richard and Gayle.  Mary and Howard shared 39 years of marriage before Howard passed away on April 27, 1990. Mary was active in the Union Congregational Church, later Glenwood United Parish, accompanying the church choir.  She enjoyed bridge, golf, handwork and reading. Mary is survived by her son, Richard (Cheryll) Edinger of Elk River; daughter, Gayle (Jeffery) Schaub of Vadnais Heights; three grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Sanford, Julie (Gene) O'Connell and Nicole Schaub; and two twin great grandchildren, Landon and Ava Sanford. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Howard. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that any donations be directed to Glenwood United Parish, Lion's Eye Bank or Glenwood Retirement Village.
