Mary Helen Stauber, age 75, of Glenwood and formerly of Minnetonka, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, MN. Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held on Monday, September 30th, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood, with Fr. Michael Wolfbauer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home in Glenwood, with Parish Prayers at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood.
Mary Helen Stauber, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Dvorak) Pederson was born July 11, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN. Mary grew up in the Twin Cities and was a 1956 graduate of Minnetonka High School.
On April 11, 1959, Mary was united in marriage to Eugene C. Stauber at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Mound, MN. Over the years, Mary and Eugene made their home in Minneapolis, Richfield, Minnetonka and Glenwood. Mary selflessly dedicated her life to her family, she was at her happiest when caring for children, whether her own 5 kids, her 13 grandchildren, or her 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to caring for her own children, Mary was a caregiver to 108 daycare children over the years in her Richfield and Minnetonka homes. Mary finished her retirement years in Glenwood where she worked at head start. She enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener who left behind beautiful gardens wherever she lived. She also helped others to create their gardens. Mary touched many lives and will be greatly missed. After a long and tenacious battle with an ongoing illness, Mary was finally called home on September 24, 2013, at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, MN, where she had resided for the past several months.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years Eugene Stauber, her 5 children Byron (Susan) Stauber of Minnetonka, Elizabeth Stauber of Glenwood, Eugene (Jennifer) Stauber of Excelsior, Jim Stauber of Cold Spring, and Ann (Richard) Almquist of Parkers Prairie; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 7 siblings, Donald Pederson, Jane (Jim) Prickett, Jerry (Diane) Pederson, Janet (Daniel) Paulsen, Patrick (Patty) Pederson, Jeanne Robinson, Barbara (Glenn) Bachler; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary has been preceded in death by her parents Donald and Dorothy Pederson; a sister, Joanne Stark; and a brother, Jim Pederson.
