Mercida Blaskowski, age 77, of Glenwood, MN, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 9th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Wolfbauer officiating.  Visitation will be at the Church, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. Mercida Gladys Blaskowski, the daughter of John and Louise (Buntje) Podtburg was born September 17, 1936 in Morris, Minnesota.  She grew up and attended school in Morris. On June 20, 1956, Mercida was united in marriage to Felix J. Blaskowski in Morris.  The couple made their home in Glenwood.  This marriage was blessed with two sons, Larry and Brad.  Mercida and Felix shared 57 years of marriage.  Along with being a homemaker, Mercida was employed at various grocery stores throughout the years. Mercida enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening and canning.  Mercida devoted her life to her family, being a full time wife, mother and homemaker.  She will be remembered for hosting an annual family gathering of sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews after the Waterama parade in Glenwood.  She passed away June 3, 2014 at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mercida is survived by her husband, Felix Blaskowski of Glenwood; sons, Larry Blaskowski of Fergus Falls and Bradley Blaskowski of Glenwood; sisters, Lorraine Halbe of Morris and Viola (Arland) Sperr of Cokato, MN; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Podtburg, Lewis Podtburg, Lester Podtburg, and Lloyd Podtburg; sisters, Louise Anderson and one sister in infancy.
