Michael "Mike" A. Knutson, age 64 of Glenwood, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22 ^nd at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Wendell, Minnesota.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Michael Alan Knutson, the son of Marvin and Viola (Richards) Knutson was born February 4, 1952 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.  He grew up in Wendell, Minnesota and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  He attended school in Wendell and Elbow Lake and graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1971.  He furthered his education at NDSCS in Wahpeton, North Dakota and graduated with a degree in computer programming.

Mike was employed by various businesses throughout the years while living in Wendell and then after moving to Glenwood.  For the last 10 years he worked as the financial secretary for Glenwood Lutheran Church.  Along with working at Glenwood Lutheran Church, Mike was an active member, serving as deacon and helping wherever he could.  He was in charge of the community garden in Glenwood and belonged to the Jaycees, both in Wendell and Glenwood.

Mike enjoyed gardening, caring for his fish ponds, cooking, and baking.   Mike especially loved caring for his family and his wiener dog, Minnie.  He will be remembered for his community service, his involvement in the church and being a caring and friendly man.

Mike is survived by his son, Patrick (Danielle) Knutson of St. Cloud; step-granddaughter, Dakotah Ravenscraft; sister, Virginia (Robert) Buck of Wahpeton, ND; brother, Gale (Julie) Knutson of Dilworth, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Viola Knutson.
