Michael R. Fisher, age 82 of Glenwood, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  A Memorial Gathering, celebrating his life, will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 7th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Interment will take place in the Spring of 2015 in Lake Amelia Cemetery, rural Villard. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Michael Ralph Fisher, the son of Arthur Ralph Fisher and Leolla Spray Fisher was born on August 25, 1932, in Wells, MN.  He grew up and attended school in Waseca, MN.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956.  Mike was employed at the Glenwood Public School as a custodian from 1970-1994.  He was also a part-time police officer in Lowry, MN (1975-1995), and a volunteer firefighter in Glenwood, MN (1958-1978). Mike was united in marriage to Jeannine Hansine Swenson on February 4, 1957 in Sisseton, South Dakota.  They made their home in Glenwood, MN where they raised four children, Scott, Heidi, Todd, and Kent.  Mike was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.  He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and bird watching.  Most of all, Mike enjoyed taking in orphaned kittens and cats and providing them with a warm and loving home.  Close friends referred to Mike as "Fish". Mike is survived by his children, Scott (Bonnie) Fisher of Glenwood, MN, Heidi (John) Vars of Waconia, MN, Todd (Theresa) Fisher of Hancock, MN, and Kent (Brenda) Fisher of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Michael, Dustin, Devan, Collin, Elijah, Emma, Trina, Danielle, and Katlynne; great-grandchildren, Cullen, Madison, Brendan, Carson, Dylan, Brycen, Ashton, and Carson, and one sister, Gretchen (Bud) Gensler. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jeannine (2001).
