Michael William Schluter, age 17, of Alexandria, MN, died early Friday morning, October 17, 2014, as a result of an automobile accident in rural Douglas County, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church and will resume there on Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery, Glenwood, MN. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Michael William Scott Schluter the son of Melissa Schluter and Corey Burton was born on October 20, 1996 in Starbuck, MN. He attended Jefferson High School in Alexandria, and would have graduated with the class of 2015.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing baseball, football, and was on the varsity wrestling team at Jefferson High School. He enjoyed working out, reading, listening to music, longboarding, and being out on the lake. Michael will be remembered for being an amazing son, brother, grandson and friend. He had a gift for lifting people's spirits with his contagious laugh and big smile. Michael will live on in the heart of everyone who loved him and will bring a smile to their face every time they think of him.
Michael is survived by his mother, Melissa Schluter of Alexandria; sister, Ahnah Schluter; brothers, Noah and Jessiah Schluter, all of Alexandria; three half-brothers, Avery, Colton and Jaiden; grandparents, William Schluter, Felecia Tyler, Sandy Scott and Mike and Jeanette Karkinen; his father, Corey Burton, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Elijah; and great-grandparents, Russ and Mary Schluter.
