Milton Conklin, age 88 of Glenwood, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14 ^th at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Krista Lee officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery in Glenwood.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Milton "Milt" Douglas Conklin was born April 2, 1928, in Holt, Minnesota to Arthur and Tillie (Knutson) Conklin.  He was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt.  He graduated from Newfolden High School in 1946, and farmed the original home place in Holt.

On July 17, 1949, Milt was united in marriage to his soul mate, Lois Larson. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Patty and Laurie.  The fall of 1949, Milt started his four year machinist apprenticeship with the Soo Line Railroad in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.  They continued to farm until 1954, when Milt took a job in Glenwood with the Soo Line Railroad working until his retirement on April 30, 1987.   He belonged to the International Association of Machinists and Aero Space and was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.

Milt enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling in the United States, Canada and Alaska.  Milt and Lois became winter "snowbirds" in Texas and also enjoyed their camping lot by Mille Lacs Lake in the summer.  They had many friends throughout the United States and Canada.  When Milt needed care for his daily needs, he moved into the Glenwood Retirement Village in July of 2013.  He passed away there on April 7, 2016.

Milton is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Glen) Boysen of Glenwood; son-in-law, Terry (Carol) Skare of Princeton, MN; grandchildren: Shelly (Tad) Brown, Chad (Sarah) Boysen, Shawna (Paul) Lazorik and John (Jenni) Skare; great-grandchildren: Clarrisa and Erika Brown, Nolan and Lillian Boysen, Ethan Hubert, Elaina, Colton and Gavin Lazorik and Dustin, Sierra and Dylan Skare; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 2014; daughter, Laurie June Skare; mother and father-in-law; Alfred and Lillian Larson; brother-in-law, Melvin Larson; sister-in-laws; Doris (Marlan) Augustine and Ethel (Ernie) Hanson and a nephew, Eldon Augustine.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Glenwood Retirement Village for 13 years of excellent care and compassion to both Milton and Lois Conklin.
