Obituary

Muriel (Gangstee) Fisher, 91 of Lowry, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Glenwood. She was born on September 26, 1926, the daughter of Herbert and Olga Gangstee. Muriel grew up in Elmore, Minnesota and graduated from Elmore High School. She married Harold Fisher of Frost, Minnesota on March 3, 1946. Harold and Muriel made their first home in Elmore and made several career related relocations throughout the years before retiring in Lowry and most recently in Glenwood.

Muriel was first and foremost a mom. She raised three sons and loved being with them and their families. She always attended her boys' athletic events and taught them how to be self-reliant young men. She was an excellent cook and her kitchen often smelled of freshly baked bread, monkey rolls and hot coffee. Muriel was an active member of First Lutheran church in Alexandria, Minnesota and participated in several bible study and circle groups.

Muriel is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harold Fisher; son, Bruce (Pat) Fisher of Planto, TX; daughter-in-law, Julie Fisher of Long Prairie, MN; son, Barry (Jane) Fisher of Indian Wells, CA; grandchildren, Jason (Trish) Fisher, Bryce (Sommer) Fisher, Matt (Carolyn) Fisher, Becky (Steven) McNeill, Ben (Trisha) Fisher and Jon (Shanna) Fisher; 9 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Betty) Gangstee of Wayzata.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Fisher; sister, Marian (Gangstee) Adams and Evelyn (Gangstee) Madetzke and her parents.

A celebration of Muriel's life will be announced later when date and location are known.

Muriel is inurned in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
