Othmar Kraemer, age 87 of Glenwood, formerly of rural Farwell, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 11 ^th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the service at the church.  Inurnment will be in Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Cemetery in Kensington.    Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Othmar Henry Kraemer, the son of Adam and Mary (Stein) Kraemer was born November 19, 1928 in Watkins, Minnesota.  He grew up on a farm near Cold Spring where he attended country school.

On October 3, 1951 Othmar was united in marriage to Leona Meinert at St. Bridgett's Catholic Church in DeGraff.  The couple made their home in Saint Paul Park before moving to the rural Cyrus/Farwell area.  Othmar farmed for 15 years before focusing on carpentry.  He worked for several carpenters before working on his own.  His specialty was kitchen cabinets and he got his new business from word of mouth and referrals.  In September of 2015 Othmar and Leona moved off the farm into Glenwood.  They shared 64 years of marriage.  When he was younger, Othmar was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Morris, Minnesota.  He also was on the Nora Township Board for several years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.  He especially loved spending time with his family and was famous for cheating while playing card games with them.  Othmar passed away July 6, 2016 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

He is survived by his wife Leona of Glenwood; daughters: Jaculin (Brian) Gasser of Camden, ME, Elizabeth (Robert) Boogaard of Osakis, MN, Rose Ann (Richard) Stemwedel of Florence, SD; sons: Patrick (Kathy) Kraemer of McHenry, ND, Glen (Elaine) Kraemer of Gull Lake, MN, Daniel Kraemer of Watertown, SD, Kenneth Kraemer of Farwell, MN, Timothy (Amy) Kraemer of West Palm Beach, FL, and Jerry (Megan) Kraemer of Austin, MN; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers: Sylvester Kraemer of Turtle Lake, WI, Alphonse (Betty) Kraemer of Fredonia, WI; sisters: Bernadette Schriefels of Cold Spring, MN, Judy (Donald) DeWenter of Georgetown, TX, and Carol Kraemer of Cold Spring, MN; step-brothers, Bernard Kaiser of Richmond, MN and Sylvester Kaiser of Cold Spring, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Othmar is preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 step-brother and 1 step-sister.
