Obituary

Rev. Philip Alan "Al" Peterson died of a heart attack in his home in Farwell, MN on September 12, 2016 at the age of 72.

Al was born in Glenwood, MN to the parents of Philip and Vivian (Dahlgren) Peterson on April 1, 1944.  He was the 2 nd of two children, 3 years younger than his sister Aloise known to most as "Loey".  Al grew up and attended elementary school in Farwell, MN and graduated from high school in Glenwood, MN.  Al attended the Dunwoody Institute for a HVACR Systems Servicing and received an Applied Science Degree.  Al was self-employed for approximately 7 years working with Bulk Tank Refrigeration and directly worked with farming clients.  Al's exceptional abilities included anything mechanical including; heating/cooling, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, repair business with mobile homes and wood working!   His 10 years with General Mills was clearly a testament to his God given talents as an Inventor and Machine Designer as he invented and worked on the machinery that manufactured the "Bugle Chips" we all came to love!  (The Bugle Chip was test marketed in 1965)

Al began his ministry for the Lord Jesus almost 40 years ago and has received two doctorates and one being a Doctorate in Divinity in 2010.  His passion has always been preaching and knowing the Word of God.  Ministries have included: Pastoring the Five Mile Church in Glenwood, MN, Tent Ministries with the Native Americans, preaching and speaking in the Twin Cities at Churches and Home groups, and Internet ministries in the last 5 years.  His love for gospel music and playing guitar went well with his ministry which was mutually shared by his wife Marilyn with blended voices together.

Al's children have many fond memories of him duck hunting and family bike riding in his younger years; gardening, cooking, canning and using ALL of his multiple talents to help others to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ was his absolute calling in life.  His incredible knowledge of the Bible was food to his soul and others.  He will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Marilyn Peterson and their daughter Danielle and the first 7 children in his life:  *Kimi Quirt (Aaron) Eagle Bend, MN *Kari Peterson (Brad) Lowry, MN *Kandi Anderson, Elbow, MN *Katie Swanson (Shane) Elbow Lake, MN *Karleen Fodstad (Jason) Zimmerman, MN *Kendra Peterson, Browerville, MN *Kayle Peterson Brainerd, MN and their mother, Rebecca "Becky" (Hasse) Peterson.

Al's 10 grandchildren include: Jordan & Nicholas Quirt, Cheyenne Peterson, Aydan & Dayle Anderson, Kherington & Parker Swanson, Tayler & Rylie Scott-Peterson, Kyiah Malwitz
