Rudella M. Person, age 92 of Glenwood, died Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4 th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry with Pastor Joe Skogmo officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Rudella Marguerite (Ladd) Person, the daughter of Einar and Edla (Anderson) Ladd was born December 28, 1922 in Darfur, Minnesota. She grew up in Watonwan and Blue Earth counties where she attended country school. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1940. In 1942, Rudella moved to Lowry, Minnesota. She was employed in the Glenwood Court House in the ASC office from 1942 – 1947.
She was united in marriage to Clayton Person on March 29, 1947 in Farwell, Minnesota. The couple made their home in California and South Carolina during Clayton's naval service before moving back to Minnesota and farming in 1952. This marriage was blessed with three children. Rudella and Clayton continued to farm until they retired in 1994. They shared 57 years of marriage before Clayton passed away March 30, 2004.
Rudella was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry where she belonged to WELCA. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and visiting. When Rudella needed help with her daily care she moved into Parkview Court in Glenwood where she has resided for the last four years.
She is survived by her children: Clayton (Jeanie) Person of Lowry, Lynn (Keith) Tolifson of Benson, and Steven (Pam) Person of Villard; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Rudella is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton Person; and sister, Doris Miller.
