Sallie A. DeBoer, age 73, of Glenwood, MN, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Sept. 24 ^th at Glenwood United Parish with Pastor Laura Nordstrom officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the church on the date of service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Sallie Ann Olson, daughter of Clyde and Edna (Ernst) Olson, was born on June 1, 1943, in Edgeley, ND. Her family lived on a farm outside of Edgeley until 1951, when they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where they lived for several years before moving to Gwinner, ND. Sallie attended school in Minnetonka through junior high and completed high school in Gwinner, ND, where she was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1961. Following graduation, she moved with her family to Glenwood, MN, where she continued to reside until her unexpected death on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

Sallie was united in marriage to Dennis DeBoer on July 3, 1976, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The two made their home in Glenwood, where they raised their three sons, Rocky, Travis, and Ashley. Sallie was employed for 46 years at Clyde Machines in Glenwood, a company founded by her father before his death in 1971. She ultimately worked her way up through the ranks to serve as the President of the company for several years prior to her retirement.

Sallie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was active with the Pope County Humane Society. She was also a member of Glenwood United Parish where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school.

Sallie's hobbies included needlepoint, gardening, golf ball hunting, and just being outdoors. She also enjoyed spending time playing with her grandchildren and visiting with her family. She was a great cook and baker.

Sallie will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, her generosity, positive attitude and the great love she had for her family.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dennis DeBoer, of Glenwood; three sons, Rocky of Glenwood, Travis (Kristin) of Prior Lake, and Ashley (Alissa) of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Braden, Arivia, Annika, Connor and Ayla, as well as other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Olson in 1971 and Edna Olson in 2007.

At the family's request, memorials may be directed to Glenwood United Parish, P. O. Box 70, Glenwood, MN 56334, to be used for the benefit of the Sunday school students.
