Scelia Brosvig, age 96, of Alexandria, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 17th at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home Chapel in Alexandria, with Pastor Ralph Peterson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery in Terrace. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Scelia Unetta Midtun, the daughter of Leonard and Anna (Gunderson) Midtun was born June 13, 1920 in Hoople, North Dakota. She grew up in Hoople, where she attended school and graduated high school before taking a job as a secretary at the grain elevator there.  She later worked as a secretary at the creamery in Pennock, MN.

Scelia was united in marriage to Melvin Brosvig on August 7, 1964, at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm near Sedan, where they enjoyed farming and spending time together. After they sold the farm, Scelia and Melvin moved to Alexandria and later into the Knute Nelson Nursing Home.

Scelia enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading and going for walks with Melvin, and playing the organ on Sunday afternoons. She passed away at Knute Nelson on June 14, 2016, having lived to the age of 96 years.

Scelia is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin on March 19, 2011, and her brother, Leonard Midtun.
