Shad M. Reichmann, age 63, of Bemidji, MN, and formerly of Villard, MN, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family. Services for Shad M. Reichman will take place at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, January 7th, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Villard, MN, with visitation beginning at 10 A.M. Inurnment will be in Lake Amelia Cemetery, rural Villard. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Shad Michael Reichmann, the son of Clarence Reichmann and Martha Zavadil Reichmannwas born on December 22, 1950, in Glenwood, MN. He grew up on a dairy farm near Glenwood, MN with his eight siblings. He graduated from Villard High School in 1968. He attended Morris State College and then enlisted in the army during the Vietnam era. He then served for 18 months before receiving an honorable discharge medically related to muscular dystrophy. He graduated from St. Cloud State Univ in 1977 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and then later on received his Masters degree in Business from St. Regis in Colorado.
Shad was united in marriage to Theresa Weisgram on September 12, 1975 at St. Bartholomew's Church in Villard. They made their home in Bemidji, Minn. He enjoyed watching sports, reading, playing with his grandchildren, and outdoor activities.
Shad is survived by his wife Theresa of Bemidji, children Nicole (Paul) Manecke of Brainerd, MN; Valerie (Mathew) Schwantes of Forest Lake, MN and Kristin (Jon) Bruley of East Grand Forks, MN; 8 grandchildren; brothers and sisters; Ron (Nancy) Reichmann of Villard, MN; Curt (Sharon) Reichmann of Villard, MN; Jean ( Ron) Tvrdik, of Glenwood, MN; Jane (Donnie) Nienaber of Sartell, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents Clarence and Martha, brothers Dr. Theodore and Jim Reichmann; sisters Judy and Janel Reichmann.
Memorials are preferred to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
