Sharon "Sherry" Fiala, age 68, of Glenwood, MN, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Glenwood Village Care Center in Glenwood, MN. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 21st, at Restoration Church (formerly Minnewaska Assembly of God) in Glenwood, with Pastor Andrew Sheldon officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home in Glenwood and will continue on Friday morning at the church, one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Sharon Lynn Fiala, daughter of Royal and Ethelle (Wright) Erlandson, was born on December 8, 1947, in Villard, MN. She grew up on a farm near Villard and was a graduating member of the Villard High School class of 1966. On October 4, 1969, she was united in marriage to Gary Fiala at St. John's Nepomuk in rural Lowry, MN. The two made their home on a farm near Glenwood, where they raised crops along with seven children.  Gary and Sharon retired from farming in 2001. Over the years Sharon was also employed at WASP, Lakeside Ballroom, Cannonball Kitchen, and American Target.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, writing poems, having coffee with friends, attending bible studies, collecting dolls, lottery scratch-offs, and watching her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.  She was a member of Restoration Church in Glenwood (formerly Minnewaska Assembly of God) and a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Sharon was diagnosed with liver/bile duct cancer after her husband's death in 2015. She lost her short battle with this disease on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Glenwood Village Care Center. She will be remembered by those who love her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and devoted Packer's fan.

Sharon is survived by two daughters, Kayla (Rodney Noyes) LeGare and Becky (Kelly Anderson) Fiala, both of Glenwood; and five sons, Mike Erlandson of Alexandria, Steve and Tim, both of Glenwood, Derrick (Angela) of Brandon, and Kevin (Jessica) of Iowa;  14 grandchildren, Brandon (Sara) Berthiaume and Kyle (Sarah) Fiala, Austin and Colten LeGare, Conner Stein, Peyton and Shay Fiala, Parker, Dixie, Elijah Fiala, Katie and Dylan Erlandson, Ben Anderson and Jennifer Mathwig; one great-grandchild, Jaelynn Berthiaume; a sister, Judy Stelflug of St. Paul, MN; a brother, Royal (Julie) Erlandson, Jr. of St. Paul, MN; five sisters-in-law, Yvonne Bowen , Bonnie Simenson, Rose (Jerry Sr.) Searcy, Peggy Alexander, Laurie Fiala; two brothers-in-law, Bill and David Fiala; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and lifelong friend, Vi Coulliard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary in 2015; three brothers, Kenneth Bowen, Ronnie Bowen, and Donald Bowen; two sisters, Audrey Haugen and Margie Fredrickson; a brother-in-law, Roger Fiala; and a nephew, Dean Stelflug.
