Shirley Neumann, age 84, of Morris, MN, formerly of Villard, MN, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.  A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 28 ^th , at St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard, with Pastor Philip Beyersdorf officiating.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Villard.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Shirley Eleanor Neumann, the daughter of Carl and Matilda (Nelson) Person was born September 9, 1931, in Ben Wade Township, Pope County, Minnesota.  She grew up near Lowry where she attended school and was a member of Norunga Lutheran Church in rural Lowry and later St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry.  She attended high school in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1949.

When Shirley was younger she was employed at the Dahl House Café in Lowry and the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Glenwood. She later was a cook for the Villard Public School and most recently Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

On May 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Martin J. Neumann in Waltham, Minnesota.  The two made their home in Villard and were members of St. John's Lutheran Church.  Shirley and Martin were blessed with two daughters, Jody and Lori.  Shirley enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, embroidery, and puzzles.  She especially loved spending time with her family.  She will be remembered for her Italian spaghetti, laughter and stories.  Shirley passed away November 23, 2015 at the West Wind Village in Morris.

She is survived by her daughters, Jody (Erland) Mickelson of Hancock and Lori Neumann of Villard; grandson, Matthew Mickelson; sisters: Marvel Olson of Alexandria, Audrey Olson of Kensington, and Betty (Arnie) Gunness of Alexandria; brother, Donald (Arlene) Person of Kensington; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Matilda Person; husband, Martin Neumann; brother, Clayton Person; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Olson and Gerald Olson; and sister-in-law, Rudella Person.
