Sigvard T. Christenson, age 88 of Glenwood, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Glenwood Village Care Center in Glenwood.  A private family service with interment was held at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery in Terrace.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Sigvard Theodore Christenson the son of Christian and Olava (Stone) Christenson was born August 21, 1925 in Chippewa Falls Township, Pope County, Minnesota.  He grew up on a farm near Terrace where he attended school.  He graduated from Glenwood High School and went on to further his education for one year at the Minneapolis Business School. On June 11, 1949, Sigvard was united in marriage to Beverly Thomey in Golden Valley, Minnesota.  This marriage was blessed with two sons, Thomas and Timothy.  Sigvard and Beverly made their home in Golden Valley.  Sigvard farmed along with worked for the Minneapolis Grain exchange.  Sigvard and Beverly shared 46 years of marriage before Beverly passed away in 1995. Sigvard enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.  He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Judith) Christenson of Maple Grove, MN; daughter-in-law, Denise Christenson of St. Louis Park, MN; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Iverson and Joseph Christenson and 1 great-grandson, Jack Christenson. Sigvard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; son, Thomas; brother, Curtis and sisters, Lula Jermstad and Ellen Abraham.
