Sylvia Almira Berg, daughter of Carl and Agnes (Swenson) Berg, was born on August 4, 1926, in Starbuck, MN.  She grew up in Starbuck, where she attended school and graduated from Starbuck High School.  She and her family were members of Fron Lutheran Church.  She was united in marriage to Donald "Bud" Hoven on September 1, 1946, upon his return from military service.
