Thomas H. Leedahl, age 80, of Glenwood, MN, died Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 11th, at Glenwood United Parish, with Rev. Ginger Beck officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Glenwood and will resume at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Thomas Hatchard Leedahl was born December 23, 1932, in Glenwood, MN. He was the fourth child born to Jesse and Isabel (Hatchard) Leedahl. Thomas grew up in Glenwood, graduating from Glenwood High School in 1950. It was in Glenwood that he met the love of his life, Dianne Nelson. On September 10, 1954, the two were married at Glenwood Lutheran Church by Rev. David Quill. To their union five children were born, Rebecca, Lisa, Cynthia, David and Christopher.
Thomas worked many jobs in his lifetime including taxi driver, gas station attendant, postal worker, delivery driver and ultimately as an accountant, having earned an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting from Alexandria Technical College in 1973. The various places he was employed include General Mills in Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, the U.S. Postal Service at Minneapolis and Anoka, MN, Purity Milk Company in Glenwood, the Radisson Arrowwood Hotel of Alexandria and the Holiday Inn of Alexandria. He retired from accounting in 1994.
Thomas was a member of the Pope County Men's Chorus and Glenwood United Parish. He loved watching all sports and the cooking channel on television.
He is survived by his 5 children, Rebecca Leedahl of Glenwood, Lisa (Ralph) Ondracek of Elk River, Cynthia (Russ) Anacker of Glenwood, David (Lisa) Leedahl of Commerce, GA, and Christopher (Jana) Leedahl of Hopkins, MN; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne in 1994; two sisters, Betty Leedahl and Shirley Leedahl; and a brother, Jerry Leedahl.
