Thomas M. Shequen, age 61 of Hutchinson, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 ^st at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  A private family burial will be at a later date in the Motley Cemetery in Motley, Minnesota.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Thomas Marvin Shequen, the son of Marvin and Rose Marie (Nelson) Shequen was born on April 26, 1955 in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  He began elementary school in Leader, Minnesota and graduated from Melrose High School 1973.  He earned an AA degree from the University of Minnesota, Crookston in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

After college, he spent many years as the "Pizza Hut guy" managing Pizza Huts in Minnesota and Iowa.  For the last fifteen years, he worked for the 3M Company in Hutchinson.

Tom enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and fishing.  He loved riding his motorcycles. His favorite spectator sports were football and car racing.  Tom never met a tool he didn't need and loved to check out the tool sections in all of his favorite stores.  He was often found in his shop working on a project.

Tom is survived by his parents, Marvin and Rose Marie Shequen of Glenwood; his sister, Donna (John) Collins of Pine River; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Beulah Shequen and Rudy and Marie Nelson.
