Obituary

Velma Wildman, age 80 of Glenwood, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 12:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in Grove Lake Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Velma Adeline Wildman, the daughter of Claude and Ruby (Nichols) Hineline was born October 17, 1933 in Pierre, SD.  She grew up in South Dakota attending school in Hayes and graduating from Pierre High School in 1952.  After graduation, Velma worked at a Bakery in Pierre for two years. On September 30, 1954, Velma was united in marriage to Adrian Wildman in Pierre, SD.  Velma and Adrian made their home on Adrian's farm north of Brooten, MN, and Velma became a farm wife/homemaker.  This marriage was blessed with five children.  Velma and Adrian shared 50 years of marriage before Adrian passed away April 7, 2005. Velma was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake in 1959 and became active in the church and ladies aid.  She was a 4-H leader for many years and worked in the 4-H food booth at the fair.  Velma was a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Brooten.  After her children were grown, Velma worked at the Glenwood Retirement Home for 13 years and had volunteered at the senior citizen center since 2009. Velma enjoyed gardening, embroidery, watching the birds, putting puzzles together and she especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Velma passed away April 30, 2014, at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood. Velma is survived by her children: Casey (Karen) Wildman of Villard, Dennis (Julie) Wildman of Brooten, Rita Wildman of Glenwood, James (Jenny) Wildman of Eagle Bend, and Bonnie (Ronnie) Suckstorff of Glenwood; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma (Royal) Olson of Watertown, SD and Grace Kleinskekel of Deadwood, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian Wildman; brothers, Darrell and Gene Hineline; sister, Lillian Terwilliger and a great-grandson, Bailey Kovarik.
