William "Bill" Hanson, Sr., age 85 of Alexandria, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria. A private family graveside service will be held at Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home.

William D. Hanson, the son of Ruby Hanson was born February 24, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Alexandria.

William "Bill" enjoyed antiques and fishing. He especially loved sharing the fish he caught with many friends and seniors at the Bethany Home in Alexandria. He will be remembered for always having "dum-dum" suckers and giving them to children as well as adults who wanted them. Bill passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria.

He is survived by his sons: Bill Jr. (Carol) Hanson of Glenwood, Dennis Hanson of Glenwood and Mark (Kirsten) Hanson of West Fargo; daughter, Marlene "DeeDee" (Gary) Hanson of Spicer; 8 grandchildren: Sheila, Tracy, Amber, Charlene, Payton, Joe, Josh and Eleigh; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Hanson and brother, Gordon Hanson.
