Barbara Hartfiel Olson, age 80 of Starbuck, died February 4, 2025 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A memorial service celebrating Barb's life will be held on Friday, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the spring in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Ossego, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Barbara Hartfiel Olson passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Glenwood, at the age of 80. Born on January 27, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Edwin and Genevieve (Kampa) Hackert, Barbara was the cherished fifth child among six siblings. Her early years were spent in the lively, nurturing atmosphere of a large family in Minneapolis, where she also completed her education, laying a strong foundation for her future
Barbara's life was characterized by her unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. After graduating from high school in Minneapolis, she continued her education in Anoka, Minnesota, where she further honed her skills and prepared for a life of service and care. Barbara embraced the role of a loving mother and homemaker creating a warm and welcoming home for her children and all who entered.
Barbara's journey through life was marked by her deep religious conviction and her caring, thoughtful spirit. She was a friend to many and possessed a warm smile that could light up any room. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Tim Hartfiel of Starbuck, Chris (Phil Hoch) Hartfiel of Apple Valley, Jenelu (David) Decker of Starbuck, John (Debbie) Hartfiel of Anoka, and Andrew (Adriana) Hartfiel of Waseca; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Hackert; sister-in-law, Billie Hackert; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends will miss her friendly demeanor and the fun she brought into their lives.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amy Hartfiel, and husband, Alden Olson; sister, Carol Sheythe, along with her brothers, Donald, Edwin, and John Hackert.
