Becky Lynn Bergquist was born on April 20, 1955, in Echo, Minnesota. She was the third of Vernon and Darlene (Pischke) Bergquist’s eight children. Becky grew up on a farm near Lowry and attended elementary school in Lowry before graduating from Glenwood High School in 1973.
Over the years Becky had various jobs. She worked at Gordy’s Café, Pederson’s Supermarket, Project New Hope, Lakeside Ballroom, Parkview Court, and she managed the Glenwood Casey’s store for 15 years.
On May 22, 1977, Becky was united in marriage to Richard T. Pederson of Starbuck. The two made their home in Starbuck and they were blessed with five children, Trevor, Trent, Troy, Tricia, and Kala. Becky and Richard later divorced. On October 13, 1989, Becky married John Oeltjen of Glenwood and her family increased by three daughters, Melissa, Heather, and Samantha. Following their marriage, the two made their home in rural Glenwood. It was a busy and happy home and with children and grandchildren at various life stages there was always plenty of activity.
Becky enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, and the occasional trip to a casino. She also looked forward time spent with her grandchildren, with whom she would often play cards, Scrabble and Monopoly. She enjoyed fishing, the yearly family resort gathering and one of her fondest memories was her tristate shopping trip with her sister, Cindy. She will be remembered as a gracious hostess, often hosting large family gatherings, and for her beautiful gardens.
Becky suffered from heart and respiratory ailments for the past several years. She died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the St. Cloud Hospital having reached the age of 65. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
