Carol Darg Obituary

Carol Darg, age 91 of Glenwood, formerly New Hope, Minnesota, died peacefully October 26, 2024 at her daughter’s home under her families care and the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice. A memorial service will be held and announced when planned. Entombment in Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Carol Jean Lindell was born on December 20, 1932 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Carl and Verna (Clausen) Lindell. Carol grew up in Albert Lea, Minnesota where she attended First Lutheran Church and graduated from Albert Lea High School. She furthered her education at the University of Minnesota, where she received her Teaching Certificate. After college she worked as a first grade teacher and taught piano.

On August 20, 1955 Carol married Lloyd Wayne Darg at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The two made their home in New Hope, where they raised their family and lived for over 60 years. Carol was an active member at House of Hope Lutheran Church. During her long tenure there she was the Sunday school superintendent, she was in charge of Bible school, she was the children’s choir director, and she created and directed the folk choir. Her hobbies included bird feeding and watching, playing games with her family, going to the movies, attending theater productions (especially watching her son and grandson perform). She also liked to visit art institutes and concerts. She was a member (with Lloyd) of the church’s golf league and played tennis with her “Applebee’s” group.

She will be remembered for always having an open heart and door, welcoming all with open arms into her home and family. Carol was a kind, generous and faith-filled person who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Philip (Jules) Darg, daughters, Beth (Chris Ostroot) Darg and Julie (David) Peters; grandchildren, Sam (Zoe Schuck) Peters, Gina (Thomas) Larson, Evan (Sara) Peters, Hayley (Jordon) Sutton; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Charlie, Connor, Autumn Rose, Bode Lloyd and Myla.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd Darg, and her brother, Dick Lindell.
