Carol Dokken, age 86, of Hoffman and formerly of Glenwood, died Friday, July 21, 2023, at Hoffman Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 28th at Glenwood Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. The service will also be livestreamed on the church's website glenwoodlutheran.com. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Carol Naomi Carlson, daughter of John and Alma (Austvold) Carlson, was born on November 19, 1936, in Glenwood, MN. She grew up on a farm near Glenwood with her parents and sister, Marlys. Carol attended school in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1954.
On June 28, 1958, Carol was united in marriage to Stanley Dokken at Glenwood Lutheran Church. They made their home in Glenwood and their marriage was blessed with two children, Kathy and Steven. Carol was employed as an office administrator at the A.S.C.S. office in Glenwood for 37 years. She and Stan shared 38 years of marriage before his death on March 26, 1997.
Family was very important to Carol and so she made sure to stay in touch with relatives. She also loved to celebrate holidays and was known for the elaborate holiday decorations that adorned her house and yard. Carol’s hobbies included reading, gardening, and traveling. She was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and the Sons of Norway. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Clothes Closet in Glenwood.
Carol died on July 21, 2023, at Hoffman Senior Living, having lived to the age of 86. She had been a resident at Hoffman Senior Living since 2018. She very much enjoyed her time there and her family greatly appreciates the wonderful care that she received.
Carol is survived by her son, Steven Dokken of Alexandria; her grandson, Thrush (Mindy) Bogie of Glenwood City, WI and their children, Brandan and Charlie; her sister, Marlys Rollofson of Hoffman; along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; her daughter, Kathy Bogie (in Dec. 1996); and great-granddaughter, Olivia Bogie.
