David Engebretson, the oldest son of Hans and Marjorie (Morton) Engebretson was born on December 28, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up on the Engebretson farm south of Glenwood and was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1981 and then joined the United States Army. He served in Germany and Fort Hood, Texas from 1983 to 1986. After his honorable discharge he attended St. Cloud State University where he graduated in 1990. He furthered his education graduating with a Doctor’s Degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, Illinois. He taught at Oklahoma City University for 20 years, teaching chemistry and other math and science classes. After he retired David moved to Maple Grove, Minnesota where he was tutoring students in chemistry and whatever the students needed. He enjoyed his summers, traveling back to Minnesota, sometimes teaching online or working and visiting with family and friends. He loved going with his brother, Bill when Bill played with his bands, helping to set up and tear down. He loved Waterama as it was a time to get together with classmates and family. He planned on being here this year.

David was a Past Master in the Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma City, belonging to two lodges. He was a member of the Eastern Star and the Shrine. He passed away peacefully at his home in Maple Grove on July 17, 2025.
