David McIver, age 85 of Alexandria, formerly rural Lowry, died Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Bethany on the Lake Care Center in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in rural Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
David John McIver, the son of John and Janet (McGregor) McIver was born June 20, 1938 in Glenwood, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm west of Lowry. David attended school in Lowry and Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1956. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul where he studied animal husbandry.
On November 26, 1960, David was united in marriage to Maryln Stassel in Jump River, Wisconsin. They made their home on the McIver family farm and were blessed with four children. David was a dedicated family farmer who was open to new ideas for sustainable agriculture practices.
He is survived by his wife, Maryln McIver; sons, Scott and Thomas McIver; daughters, Heather (Gregory) McMoore and Holly (Andrew) McIver Hogan; sister, Carolyn (Lou) McIver and brother-in-law, Walter Gast.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret “Margie” Gast.
