He attended school in his hometown of Cyrus, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and thoughtful nature. As a young man, he operated a feed truck business, demonstrating an early knack for entrepreneurship and hard work. Later, he moved to the Twin Cities, where he worked as a commercial custodian until his retirement.

Upon his retirement, David returned to Glenwood to be near his brothers and sisters. His family and close friends were of utmost importance to him, and he cherished the time he spent with them. David was a gracious host, often opening his home to family and friends for gatherings and celebrations. He had a particular fondness for the holiday season, with Christmas being his favorite. His Christmas decorations and goodies brought warmth and cheer to family gatherings.

David was a huge fan of the Minnesota State Fair, a beloved tradition that he looked forward to with great anticipation each August. When he lived in the Twin Cities he attended at least once each year, enjoying the food, the exhibits, and people watching. The Fair was the highlight of David’s summers and he enjoyed telling friends and family about the things he did and saw there.
