Debora "Debbie" Chan, age 60 of Starbuck, formerly Lowry, died Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Alomere Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Bryan Taffe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Debora “Debbie” Katherine was born May 31, 1961 in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was the third child and only daughter born to Robert “Bob” and Lorraine Chan. She grew up in Lowry with her two older brothers, Ken and Don. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry and attended school in Alexandria. She graduated from Alexandria Public Schools in 1982.
Debbie enjoyed knitting, watching and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins along with listening to the Minnewaska Laker games. Debbie loved dolls and had quite a collection. She loved her pets, which were several cats and dogs over the years. Debbie had a big heart and loved giving hugs. She loved her family, especially her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. When Debbie needed help with her daily care she moved into the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck where she enjoyed playing bingo every week and made a best friend, Becky. Debbie passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Alomere Hospital in Alexandria.
She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth (Beth) Chan of Glenwood and Don (Julie) Chan of Alexandria; nephews and niece: Joshua (Jennifer) Chan, Nathan (Gail) Chan, Jacob (Mallory) Chan and Laura (Dan) Wacker; great-nieces and nephews: Kolton, Owen, Preston, Gabriel, Ezra, Ethan, Aaron, Isaac, Lexi. Lacey and Weston; cousins and many friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Lorraine and a nephew, Matthew Chan.
