Debra M. (Welle) Douvier

Debra Douvier, age 66, of Glenwood, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2020 at her home in rural Glenwood with her husband Dave by her side, where he always was in her life. Deb’s family is planning on honoring her wishes by having a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Deb was born September 2, 1953 in Paynesville, MN to Alvin and Ann (Miller) Welle. She graduated from Paynesville High School in 1971 and then attended the St. Cloud School of X-Ray, receiving her degree in 1973. Deb worked all her life as a Radiological Technologist, first in Glenwood and then in Alexandria, retiring in 2019. She married the love of her life and best friend, David Douvier, on September 15, 1973 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. For the next 46 years, they made their home near Glenwood on the farm where Dave grew up. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Tricia and Ryan.

Much of Deb’s free time was spent sewing beautiful quilts, working in her flower gardens, reading, going on road trips with Dave, and after retirement, teaching herself to paint beautiful barn quilts. She and Dave took many road trips with their grandchildren who kept them young. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.  Deb enjoyed spending quiet time at the lake on their farm with Dave, her children and four grandchildren, or alone gazing at nature and photographing the beautiful sunsets. She was a faithful friend to her siblings, her high school friends, and to her co-workers, with whom she spent hours and hours talking, laughing and of course drinking coffee.

Deb enjoyed the simple things in life. She was known to rarely complain and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She touched so many lives, especially those of her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Deb is survived by her husband, Dave; their two children, Tricia (Scott) Buus of Shoreview, and Ryan (Jessica Moen) of St. Cloud; four grandchildren, Gavyn, Madisyn, Miles and Sydney; four sisters, Karren (Dennis) Okerstrom of Blaine, Joyce Arnold of St. Anthony, Judi (Judy Rose) Welle of Bowlus, and Terri (Dan) Winter of Paynesville; sister-in-law, Rose Welle of Paynesville; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Douvier of Glenwood; her large Douvier family; many nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog, Tessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Ann; and her two brothers, Roger and Dale.

Deb will be missed by so many people but will remain in the hearts of all those she touched.
