Interment will be in the St. John Nepomuk/Reno Catholic Church in rural Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Dorothy Mae Koubsky was born on February 3, 1941, in Crookston, Minnesota, to Joseph and Augusta (Ryer) Schultz. Dorothy was the fourth of five children. Her early years were spent in Crookston where she graduated from Crookston High School in 1959. After high school Dorothy ventured to the Twin Cities, where she found employment at Sears.

On November 16, 1963, Dorothy's life was forever intertwined with that of Charles Koubsky, as they were united in marriage at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Lake Reno in rural Lowry. The couple embarked on a life filled with love and hard work on their farm purchased in 1965, where they raised their family and shared 44 years of marriage until Charles's passing on February 3, 2008.

Dorothy's life was defined by her roles as a loving homemaker, a dedicated farm wife, and a mother to her cherished children: Mike, Angel (who died in infancy), Robert, Gary, and Jennifer. Her work ethic extended beyond the home as she was employed at the Glenwood Retirement Village in laundry and housekeeping for 22 years and helped clean at the Reno Resort. Dorothy's commitment to her community was further exemplified by her volunteer work at the Hearts and Hands food shelf. Dorothy's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her Christian beliefs guided her through life's challenges, including her courageous battle with cancer in 2015.

Dorothy's interests were as rich and varied as her life. She was an avid gardener, taking immense pride in her garden and yard. Her love for baking, knitting, and crafting afghans for each of her children and grandchildren were testaments to her creative spirit. Dorothy and Charles enjoyed dancing and shared many adventures in their motorhome, exploring the joy of camping. She was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of fishing, playing cards, and jigsaw puzzles.

Above all, Dorothy's favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She treasured holidays and any occasion that brought her loved ones together. After Charles's death, she maintained her independence on the farm until 2023, when she transitioned to assisted living and, eventually, the Glenwood Retirement Village. She died there on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

She is survived by her children: Mike of Swanville, Robert “Bob” of St. Louis Park, Gary (Michele) of Glenwood and Jennifer Koubsky of Hopkins; she was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her sister Joanne (Jerry) Hanson, sister-in-law Kathy Schultz, and many extended family members survive her, each carrying a piece of her generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; infant daughter, Angel; brothers, Gerald and Kenny and sister, Elaine.

Dorothy Mae Koubsky's life was a testament to love, faith, and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
