Obituary

Eunice Blair, age 95 of Glenwood, died Friday, August 18, 2023 at Glenwood Village Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25th at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ann Cemetery. The service will also be livestreamed on the church's website glenwoodlutheran.com. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Eunice Pearl Tweit was born on March 11, 1928, in Chippewa Falls Township, near Glenwood, MN on the family farm. She was the third of six children born to parents, Henry and Lajla (Melby) Tweit. She attended country school and then Glenwood High School, where she graduated with the class of 1945. On September 25, 1945, Eunice was united in marriage to Edward R. Blair at her parents’ home. The two made their home on a farm in Reno Township, where they farmed and raised their eight children. Eunice and Ed shared 44 years of marriage before his death on May 16, 1990.

Eunice worked for 27 years at the Glenwood Retirement Village.  She began in the kitchen, completed nurse’s aid training and spent several years there as a nursing assistant, before becoming the director of social relations.  She loved her work and the residents.

Eunice was detail-oriented, and perhaps even a bit of a perfectionist. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, canning, quilting and flower gardening. She loved attending activities for her children when they were young and then for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Glenwood Lutheran Church where she participated in ladies circle, couples circle, the board of education, taught Sunday school and participated in numerous bible studies. To date, Eunice and Ed’s family has had 11 weddings, 32 baptisms, 20 confirmations, and five funerals at Glenwood Lutheran.

Eunice and Ed loved to dance and she often bought fabric and sewed a new dress on Friday for the dance on Saturday. Her family and whoever they invited to the table never went hungry. Her cooking always tasted great, got them through the work at hand, and leftovers were a bonus. Comfort food included extra butter, cream of wheat, her brownies and chocolate covered popcorn for watching Bonanza.

Eunice was called home Friday, August 18, 2023, at Glenwood Village Care Center, where she had been a resident since early 2022. Blessed be her memory.

Eunice is survived by her children, Patty Barsness of Glenwood, Lyle (Julie) Blair of Glenwood, Lois (Jeff Chan) Blair of Glenwood, Lee (Cathy) Blair of Bagley, Edward (Todd Coutts) Blair of Missoula, MT, and Jodi (Jim) Meade of Glenwood; son-in-law, Roger Wickmann of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, (Katia) Wickmann, Tonia (Stan) Harder, Tweit (Jolynn) Wickmann, Tiffany (Kristian) Alekov, Michelle Barsness (William), Chad (Jenny) Barsness, Tait (Kim) Blair, Scott (Tina) Blair, Teryl (Tim) Kindel, Cole (Mindy) Meyer, Paige (Jay) Jahnke, Brian Blair (Emily Olson), Lisa (Travis) Shepersky, Ellspeth (Mike) Lundstrom, Euriah (Stephanie) Blair, Zachary (Logan) Blair, Jeremiah Coutts; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nathan Wickmann, Kayla (Jackson) Judge, Kelly (Zac) Brunson, Kristen, Kendelle, and Kloe Harder, Jayden, Paxton, Eden, and Brooks Wickmann, Alex and Sophia Alekov, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Emma Barsness, Allison (Kevin) Moritz, Hayley (Roman) Wilson, Mason, Jacob, and Kaylen Blair, Aubrey and Blair Kindel, Tyson and Brooklyn Meyer, Cail, Quin and Hope Jahnke, Mesa and Tatum Shepersky, Carter, Brock and Jace Lundstrom, Katarina Blair, Aalijah and Finn Blair, Julian, Judah, and Josiah Coutts; great great-grandchildren, Kason and (expecting baby) Judge, Naomi, Noel and (expecting baby) Brunson, Rylan, Callen and Brecken Moritz, Elliett and Mack Wilson; two brothers, Delbert (Toni) Tweit and Alward Tweit; two sisters-in-law, June Tweit and Luverne Blair, and countless loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
