Evelyn Anna Douvier, the third of five daughters born to Joseph and Lucy (Fladung) Tschida was born October 4, 1923 in Elrosa, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm north of Elrosa and attended country school.
On June 5, 1945 Evelyn was united in marriage to Anton Douvier in Sauk Centre. They made their home on a farm near Glenwood. Evelyn and Anton were blessed with eight children and shared 19 years of marriage before Anton passed away in 1964. Evelyn continued to raise her family on the farm until 1974 when she bought a home and moved into Glenwood.
Evelyn was a hardworking, loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When her children were young she would make their clothing, help with the farm, garden, cook and bake. She would make a dozen loaves of bread at a time and was always trying to feed everyone, making sure everyone had enough food to eat. Evelyn especially loved time spent with her family; her favorite times were the holidays and everyone’s birthdays. She loved to get together and wanted to make sure each one felt special. She also enjoyed quilting, crafts and camping. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and active in the mission quilting group. When Evelyn broke her hip and needed help with her daily care she moved into Parkview Court and later the Glenwood Retirement Village. She passed away there on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Evelyn is survived by her children: LuAnn Olson of Benson, Judy (Percy) Ziemer of Belgrade, David, DuWayne (Alice), Dale (Bernie) Douvier all of Glenwood, Darel (Debbie) Douvier, of Brooten, Daniel (Pat) Douvier of Glenwood, and Lynette (Ray) Euerle of Osakis; 28 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
