Joan M. (Goltz) Kraemer

Joan Marie Kraemer, age 79 of Glenwood, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria. Visitation for Joan will be Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Facemasks and social distancing will be in place. After the visitation a private family mass will be held and burial will be in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery in Belgrade. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. 

Joan Marie Kraemer, the daughter of Gordon and Cecilia Goltz, was born on June 19, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN. Joan went to school in Minneapolis and graduated in 1959. On September 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Robert John Kraemer from Urbank, MN. The 18 year marriage was blessed with three sons, three daughters, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  

Joan enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She loved to dance!! People always said "She's the life of the party!" She was known for baking Grandma Kraemer's coffee cake and for making anyone who stopped over feel at home.   

Bob and Joan worked together at The Town House in Rochester, MN. From there they moved their family to Breezy Point and they owned and operated Kraemer's Four Seasons Supper Club. Joan moved back to Rochester and worked for Larson's Home Improvements. She was the first female sales associate in southern Minnesota and she held a successful sales position there for 20 years. In 2000 she moved to Burnsville, MN and worked for her son's catering company until she retired and moved to Glenwood, MN. Joan would often volunteer at the local Clothes Closet. She always looked forward to having lunch with her kids at either Lakeside Ballroom for their famous taco salad, or at Duffy's for their delicious patty melt.  

Joan is survived by her six children: Kim Kraemer, Bobby Kraemer, Bill (Susan) Kraemer, Karen Kraemer, Kelly (Chris Johnson) Kraemer, Richard (Erica) Kraemer, 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sister Faye Kuhn and her brother Gordy Goltz.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Cecilia Goltz; brother, Duane Goltz; sisters, Gayle Roettger and Shirley Whiting.
