John Patrick “J.P.” Shea, son of John and Gwendolyn Shea was born August 20, 1950. He grew up in Glenwood and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He attended high school in Glenwood and belonged to the class of 1968. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Schaub on May 5, 1973 at Sacred Heart Church in Glenwood. They were blessed with a son, David and a daughter, Patricia.
J.P. started selling when he started in retail with his Uncle Pete at the Gambles Store in Alexandria and remained in sales throughout his career. He retired from American Solutions for Business in 2015.
J.P. enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and spending time at the cabin south of Glenwood that he and Cheryl owned since 1979. He was also an avid woodcarver and has many of his works all over the U.S.
He loved the simple things in life, whether it was a walk in the woods or a drive in the country. He also enjoyed helping Cheryl bake cookies as long as he was able to be the “taste sampler.”
