June R. (Henrichs) Erickson

June R. Erickson, age 86, of Glenwood, formerly of Williston, ND, died Friday, February 22, 2019, at her home. A memorial service celebrating June's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 9th, at Glenwood Estates in Glenwood. Her burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND on Thursday, February 28th.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

June R. Erickson (86) passed away peacefully at her home in Glenwood, MN on February 22nd, 2019. June was born June 13, 1932 in Doran, MN to Charles and Sena (Wiertzema) Henrichs. She grew up on a farm near Breckenridge, MN with her 9 brothers and sisters and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950. June was an athlete and enjoyed many sports including basketball, softball and bowling. June married Edward Erickson April 1st, 1955.  She and Ed then moved to Williston, ND where June worked as a switchboard operator for Bell telephone. She and Ed bought Eastside Grocery and were owners of that store for a number of years before June found her true calling. After receiving her Associate degree from UND Williston Center, she was employed at Mercy Hospital in Williston for the next 25 years. In the early 1980s she decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Medical Records Administration and graduated from St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN in 1985. June had a special love for the Duluth area. After Ed's passing in 1991, June became a devoted philanthropist, dedicating her time and energy to worthwhile ventures including many Williston Community theatre productions, the Medora Foundation where she worked as a summer volunteer promoting the state she loved so much, North Dakota. When she wasn't working in Medora, she spent her winters in Americus, Georgia volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity Headquarters, spending her time restoring volunteer housing and going on builds. June also was an avid traveler. People who knew June appreciated her giving and caring spirit and she received many public recognitions for her volunteerism.

June is survived by her daughters, Kim (Mark) Geiger of Mandan, ND, Kay (Jim) Golembeck of Woodbury, MN, and Kris Entzi of Alexandria, MN,  a son, Vern (Heather) Erickson of Deerwood, MN; dear friend, Steve Entzi; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Thorson and Marian (John) Fagan; and her brother, Dick Henrichs.
