June Ellen (Hopkins) Frederick, the middle child of nine children, was born June 14, 1930, (also her Mother’s birthday) to Nellie (Olson) and Neil Hopkins of Villard, Minnesota. She attended Villard Public School, graduating with the Class of 1949. She spent the majority of her life in Villard, her favorite place in all the world! June was not afraid of hard work. She spent many years working on the farm and as a CNA before devoting 20 years of her working life to 3M in Alexandria, Minnesota. There she developed life-long friendships with many of her co-workers and participated in the 3M Clown Club. After retirement, June spent many hours in her gardens and enjoying her home. She was truly a shopper who could spot a bargain a mile away. She definitely was a collector of many things and enjoyed decorating rooms in her home for special seasons.
June was an active member of the Women’s Legion Auxiliary for 30 years. Being the social person she was, she loved the monthly get togethers of the local birthday clubs and homemakers, lunches at The Villard Office Bar, local theatre and the yearly Villard High School reunions. She loved to travel and experienced many international destinations. Her favorite tv show was Jeopardy.
June is survived by her brother Charles Hopkins (Marge), her children by marriage, Marla Coffin (Phil) and Chad Frederick (Cindy), special niece Jill Van Kempen, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many other nieces and nephews. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, her parents, Nellie and Neil, and her siblings Jean, Dorothy, Jack, Mary, Bruce, Margaret and Pat.
The family would like to thank Glenwood Retirement Village and Glacial Ridge Hospice for their compassionate care of June and request that memorials be made to them in June’s name.
